COLVILLE CONFEDERATEDTRIBES The Confederated Tribes of
the Colville Reservation was established in 1872 and covers 1.4 million acres
in Okanogan and Ferry Counties. Lands are diverse with natural resources
including timber, streams, rivers, minerals, native plants, and wildlife. The
ColvilleTribal Museum, located in Coulee Dam,provides a glimpse of the
rich heritage of the people with historical displays of early Indian settlements,
history and lifestyles of the twelve bands that comprise the Confederated
Tribes of the Colville Reservation. The 4th of July PowWow is theTribes
largest cultural event and attracts the best singers and dancers throughout
Indian Country. Stick games and a parade accompany the celebration. Early
spring features the Sun Flower Festival at Paschal Sherman Indian School
and an Indian Encampment is held the 2nd weekend ofAugust during the
Omak Stampede &World Famous Suicide Race in Omak. Colville
Tribal Casinos is pleased to present their newest property the 12 Tribes
Resort Casino located in Omak, open now. Featuring a 56,000 square foot
gaming floor with slot machines & table games, two restaurants, a lounge,
a spa, an indoor pool, an indoor/outdoor sauna and an 80 room hotel with
12 luxury suites.
FORTHE KIDS Fishing, camping, boating, museums, festivals and events
will ensure that your children are never bored! Pateros Park welcomes
pets and has a long walking trail along the river. Rivers Restaurant
serves world-famous beef from the Double R Ranch, and the Sweet
River Bakery in Pateros has incredible pizza and baked goods! Grand
Coulee hosts the Colorama Festival in May: a festival, rodeo, parade,
carnival, and hours of family activities, and the Koulee Kids Fest on the
Saturday before Father’s Day: free fun for kids including mini golf, fishing,
paddle boats, coloring contests, and free entertainment.The Brewster
City Pool has two waterslides, two diving boards, and is right next to
the Brewster City Park. Between Brewster and Bridgeport, the
Fort Okanogan Interpretive Center is open during the summer
and free to the public, with dioramas and events during the summer.
