THE GREAT OUTDOORS:
The Pasayten Wilderness Area and
Sinlahekin Fish and Wildlife Preserve (with the state’s most diverse
butterfly population) are located near Loomis. Don’t miss a great hike,
climb, or bike ride at McLaughlin Canyon, Whistler Canyon, or the
SimilkameenTrails. The fishing is extraordinary, and each lake has its own

FAIRSAND RODEOS:
The annual Chesaw 4th of July Rodeo is an old
fashion family event. They ride cows in Chesaw and you can too! The
Tonasket Founder’s Day celebration includes a parade, family BBQ, and
rodeo (1st weekend after Memorial Day). At the spring and fall Okanogan
Family Faires (near Tonasket) you will find folks trading goods, playing
music, sharing arts and crafts, dancing and singing.
ARTS AND CULTURE:
The Old Oroville Depot Museum is the
original train depot, built in Oroville in 1907 and the largest Great
Northern Rail Road depot building still in useable condition in the Pacific
Northwest. The Old Molson’s Ghost Town and School Museum is a
great place for a walk back in time, don’t miss the old pioneer buildings,
farm machinery, mining equipment and other historic artifacts.
UNIQUE PLACES AND EVENTS:
Tonasket’s Okanogan River
Garlic Festival is a celebration of the harvest with gourmet foods,
produce, arts and crafts and entertainment in August. In January, while
the ice is still on the lake catch some fish and you are sure to win a prize
at the Molson’s NWWinter Ice Fishing Festival.
KIDS AND PETS:
The new Tonasket Water Ranch will open this
summer and will be a great stop to cool the kids off.Another great idea
is to stop for a swim at Oroville’s Deep Bay Park on Lake Osoyoos.
