ROUND TRIP: 4.2 Miles ELEVATION GAIN: 1070 ft. HIKING SEASON: Summer NOTES: Take a dip in the beautiful Patterson Lake after your hike! DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Drive 7.5 miles from either downtown Twisp or downtown Winthrop, following signs for Sun Mountain Lodge. Pull into the WDFW boat launch and parking area (with outhouse) at the north end of Patterson Lake. PARKING PASS: Discover Pass OVERVIEW Take the loop hiking trail to the top of Patterson Mountain via two well established paths. Expect a vigorous climb and make sure to bring sunblock, water, and appropriate footwear. DESCRIPTION The trailhead is located immediately opposite the Patterson Lake parking lot and climbs sharply uphill for a short distance before the trail splits at a gate. Either option will have you wandering through woodlands and shrub steppe to eventually reach the summit (4.2 mi round-trip with approximately 1070’ of elevation gain). Expect a vigorous hike and spectacular 360 degree views of the Sawtooth, Pasayten and North Cascade mountain ranges as well as beautiful Patterson Lake and the upper reaches of the Methow Valley. 13 PATTERSON MOUNTAIN [ WINTHROP, WASHINGTON ]
