OVERVIEW Created by a 12th grade English class at the local high school, this small gem is located just south of First Avenue in the city of Okanogan and plays host to a rich variety of native birds, plants, fish, mammals and even an occasional cross- country skier. DESCRIPTION Old growth deciduous trees provide a shady riparian environment along the banks of the Okanogan River only a short distance from the downtown business area. Easy to find and a pleasure to explore, this well-established hiking, walking, running trail includes approximately 3 miles of graded trails plus opportunities for birding, fishing, and wildlife photography. Bring your camera . . . and some mosquito repellent in summer. ROUND TRIP: 3 Miles of trails ELEVATION GAIN: None HIKING SEASON: All Year NOTES: The collaborative interpretive signage was created by Okanogan Conservation District and local high school students. DRIVING DIRECTIONS: At the south end of Okanogan the First Avenue Bridge forms the connection between Route 20 and Route 97. As you approach the bridge from either direction, look for a dirt road on the river’s west bank and follow it to a well marked parking area.
