Methow Trails | 25 LAR I AT C O F F E E R O A S T E R S Methow Valley December Ski Camp - December 14-17 The 2017 Methow Ski Camp has something for almost every skier. Whether you are a beginner to Nordic skiing, or have been skiing for decades and want to improve your technique, we’ve got a coach to match your ability and interest. This adult ski camp will be held at Sun Mountain Lodge and includes three days of instruction, demos, wax clinics, and more! Location: Sun Mountain Lodge (lodging not included in camp price) Cost: $420, trail passes included Ski Rodeo December 27 Brought to you by Methow Valley Nordic Ski Educational Foundation. Join us in kicking off the ski season with the family-friendly Ski Rodeo. A great way to spend time with friends and family, try a ski race, or cheer someone on! Participants can ski competitively or just for fun. 1, 5, and 10km skate-ski races for all ages, and a custom-designed ski obstacle course. Location: To Be Determined Cost: Varies with event December Kids’ Holiday Ski Camp December 28-29 Methow Valley Nordic Team Holiday Camp for skiers ages 6-13, a two-day clinic of fun, games, and skills. Location: Mazama Community Center Cost: $60, Methow Valley Nordic Team members (must be on the Junior Team). $150 non-members Try Biathlon December 30 This is your opportunity to try the Olympic sport of biathlon. Biathlon combines Nordic skiing with rifle marksmanship. The Methow Valley Biathlon Team will share the details of the equipment, history, training’ and safety of the sport before inviting participants to take turns shooting at targets and skiing a short biathlon course. Open to ages 9 and older. No advanced registration required; first come, first shoot. This is a fundraiser for the Methow Valley Biathlon Team. Location: Mazama Biathlon Range Start Times: 10:00am-2:00pm Cost: $25 donation to cover cost of ammunition and assist MVB’s mission. Winter Trails Day January 5-7 Come enjoy the wonderful winter trails in the Methow Valley with the Seattle Mountaineer’s and their Methow partners. The weekend includes Nordic and snowshoe tours, fat bike demo, ski lessons, rental deals, horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice skating, and more! Location: Methow Trails Cost: Varies based on activity choices Methow Valley Nordic Members’ Clinic - January 7-8 This weekend ski camp for Methow Valley Nordic members is a great way to get lots of coaching in a short period of time! Format includes one day of skate and one day of classic coaching, plus lunch and snacks. 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Location: Mazama Community Center and Mazama trails Cost: $160 Loup Loup Randonee Race January 27 Ski loops at the Loup! Beginner and experienced skiers welcome. Race entry includes lift pass. Location: Loup Loup Ski Bowl Cost: $50, early registration. $65, day of registration Ski Derby - February 3 Back by popular demand. Skiers can choose either 15km or 30km distance, both classic technique. The 15km course is rolling and utilizes most of the gentler lower trails, and the 30km course is unique and offers the challenge of skiing in more mountainous terrain with a significant climb to Thompson Pass. Location: Chickadee Trailhead Cost: $50 ($40, MVNSEF members) Hanz’s Big Adventure February 5 Come and have a blast on skis, a “guess your time” event with obstacle course included. Open to all ages. Location: McCabe Trail at Liberty Bell High School 1:00 pm Cost: FREE Methow Valley Ski for Women February 4 Join us for the 5th Annual Ski for Women – a fun Nordic ski event for women and girls and a fundraiser for Room One. Costumes, prizes, laughter, giving. 100% of all donations go to Room One to benefit families in the Methow Valley. Complimentary lunch at the Freestone Inn after the event. Location: Mazama Community Center, 10:00 am. Race starts at 10:30 am Cost: By donation Race of the Methow February 10-11 Races for everyone! Skate, sprint, and classic distance races offered at this two-day event. USSA sanctioned and serves as a regional Junior National qualifier!
